I caught up with owner, Andrew (who we first met 2 years ago, just after the business was launched) for an update.
Growing in popularity
Using state-of-the-art 4D CAD technology, DNA’s design team generate a concept, allowing customers to fully immerse themselves, in the virtual reality of their new bathroom. Being ahead of the game, and growing in popularity, Andrew is now investing in more technology.
“The virtual reality worked brilliantly and is very popular. We’re now investing in a virtual theatre. We’ll need to segregate part of the shop for it. This new experience will be even more interactive. The customer will still be required to wear a headset but as well as visualising your dream bathroom, the taps will turn and showers will run water. We can’t wait to showcase it.”
Stress free luxury
DNA only design, supply & install bathroom equipment and furniture from leading quality manufacturers such as Villeroy & Boch, Geberit, and Kudos. Locally approved suppliers complete the DNA experience by providing a professional and personal installation service.
“We literally take the stress out of having your dream bathroom created. From dreaming up the design to ripping out the old one to a fully completed, fitted bathroom. We do everything and manage the whole experience from start to finish. This takes the stress away from our customers of having to organise all of the work.”
Needing a bigger boat
In 2019 DNA Bathrooms were a 4 strong team supported by a trusted local fitter network. Has this changed?
“One of our team has retired and we’re currently recruiting for his replacement. We now have two full time designers and we’re hoping to grow in the next 12 months. We like to stay ahead of the game and have a new showroom coming. There will be new products coming in over the next couple of months and we’re massively increasing the tile range.”
Tech to the rescue
“The last 12 months have been difficult. Like most businesses, it’s been very up and down. During the first lockdown we literally pressed paused. When we came back it was unbelievably busy. Thankfully in the second lockdown we were able to stay open so we kept going on an appointment only basis. It’s been a struggle but we’ve adapted well and technology has really helped us. We’ve managed a lot of appointments virtually using Teams video calling as our designs can be viewed as a 3D model. This has been popular and we’ll continue to offer virtual meetings as well as pre-booked appointments in the showroom.”
Double trouble
“Getting stock has sometimes been difficult. We’ve seen lots of price rises and surcharges as demand increases. Brexit hasn’t helped either. Trying to get all of the required paperwork completed and approved has been difficult during the pandemic. Thankfully our customers don’t see how much harder work it has been. We like to keep that behind the scenes, away from them!”
“And the winner is…”
Despite all of this going on DNA Bathrooms also managed to become award winners.
“We were awarded ‘Bathroom retailer of the year’ at the 2020 KBB awards. The awards are National and voted for by suppliers. We won for the brand new showroom that we had created from scratch. We created the showroom with our customers in mind so we were delighted that our suppliers recognised this.
Brilliant customer service
To wrap up the interview I asked what DNA like about being a tenant on the business park.
“The customer service here is brilliant. Mark, the landlord always answers his phone! If you need anything it’s there. We like to support local and we use a lot of different businesses here such as Direct Business Supplies and Platinum Motors. The Terry Dicken Business Park is a brilliant resource for Stokesley.”
