Feature Friday Rewind: Richardson Podiatry
At Richardson Podiatry, caring for feet is their passion. From treating common foot issues like ingrown toenails, corns, and hard skin to providing advanced foot care such as diabetic foot screening and circulation tests, they’ve got it all covered.
Today, we’re catching up with owner Lucy to hear about their exciting expansion and what’s been happening since we last spoke in February 2024.
Back then home visits were a new service in Stokesley. New recruit, Susanne was working towards her exams while assisting with simple treatments. Let’s see how far they’ve come!
What’s changed since February?
Staff updates
“Susanne is now fully qualified as a podiatry assistant and offers routine nail care appointments,” explained Lucy. “The team is already welcoming students for work placements, helping to address the national shortage of podiatrists while fostering the next generation of professionals. Thus freeing me up to focus on more advanced foot care treatments. In addition, my husband has also joined the team. Stepping in to manage the business side of things, such as handling stock ordering, managing social media, and overseeing our accounting. This strategic change means I can now dedicate all my energy into my patients and I’ve had time to up skill.”
Lucy’s new skills
Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes joints to become painful and stiff. It’s the most common type of arthritis in the UK. A debilitating condition which can limit mobility and quality of life. With that in mind, Lucy is now qualified to offer Ostenil injections for osteoarthritis in lower limb joints, including knees and big toe joints.
Lucy explained “Ostenil injections help restore the balance of hyaluronic acid in the joint, reducing pain and improving overall knee function. When the knee joint is adequately lubricated and cushioned, patients often find it easier to move their knees and perform everyday activities. Resulting in reduced pain and improved mobility, with long lasting results and minimal side effects. In addition to administering Ostenil injections, my ability to diagnose and treat foot pain has expanded significantly. So much that, by the end of this year, we aim to offer ultrasound-guided injections for even greater precision.”
The big move
Providing all of these new services means a need for more space. Therefore, Richardson Podiatry is thrilled to announce their upcoming expansion into a new, fully kitted-out clinic at Navigation House. Still on the business park, and just a five minute walk from the old clinic.
Lucy’s excitement is contagious! She announced, “With our move to new premises, we’ll be able to operate two clinics simultaneously. The new space features two hydraulic patient couches for ultimate comfort, a beautiful waiting room adorned with local art, and clinical-grade floors and paintwork to meet all regulations. All on the ground floor for easy access, the new clinic also comes with additional parking. We’ve dreamed of this expansion for years. It’s everything we’ve wanted and more. Doors officially opened on Monday, February 3rd, 2025.”
A supportive community
Lucy credits the supportive environment of the Terry Dicken Business Park for helping to make this move possible.
“Mark, has gone above and beyond to ensure the new clinic meets our needs,” said Lucy. “Even assisting with late-night cupboard removals and new radiator requests! He couldn’t have been more helpful. It’s true that there’s a real sense of community here.”
