Terry Dicken Business Park Feature Friday

Wentworth Security & Electrical

Wentworth Security & Electrical operate an alarm installation service. This includes supply, installation and servicing of CCTV, fire and intruder alarms and alarm and access control systems.

I met with owner, Oliver to find out more.

The spark

“When I was at school I loved helping my Grandad at work. He originally operated ‘Wentworth Electrical’ and I loved going to work with him and I learnt how to re-wire houses. When I left school I stayed within the electronics industry and worked as a calibration engineer and a robotics engineer. “

The ignition

“In 2016 I was made redundant. I didn’t want the rest of my life to be in someones else’s hands again. So with the cheapest van I could find, that spark that my Grandad ignited, and support from my family, I started Wentworth Security and Electrical.”

Our family looking after yours

“We now have a regular team of 3. It’s a family run business and we’re really proud of that. Anyone who listens to ‘TFM’ radio will have heard our ads and our motto ‘Our family looking after yours’. That’s how we operate.”

Making people feel safe

“I thoroughly enjoy what I do. In fact, we all get great job satisfaction from making people feel safer in their location. Whether that is in their home or place of work. Since we introduced the fire alarm installation service, we’re now potentially saving lives too!”

Fast response times

“We do lots of work with farms and our calving and lambing cameras are really popular at this time of year. As well as the livestock monitoring systems, we also specialise in farm security systems. Teaming up with local guarding company JWS Middlesbrough, we now offer customers a private guard response to an intruder alarm activation. As a result we can get someone to you often a lot quicker than a standard police response.”

That must give customers peace of mind. To clarify, I asked Oliver who his ideal customers are.

From flat to farm

“Ones that pay! Seriously though, we have a really broad customer base. No two days are the same. Our team can be found installing cameras on a bungalow one day and then to an entire block of flats the next. Landlords, homeowners, farmers and business owners all use our alarm installation service.”

Goodbye garage, hello business park

“Initially, I operated the business from my garage. To be able to take on bigger jobs we invested in access equipment. This meant we had to say goodbye to the garage! Along with an office we also needed to find a home for the new cherry picker, so we joined the Terry Dicken Business Park. Consequently we can be cheaper than the competition as owning our own equipment means we can be more competitive on price.”

To conclude, I asked what attracted Oliver to the business park.

Such a convenient spot

“It’s really handy for us as it’s right on the doorstep. We do lots of work in Stokesley and there are no other businesses like ours based here. As we have customers in Great Ayton, Hutton Rudby and the surrounding villages, the business park is in such a convenient spot. We’ve worked with many tenants such as Mulberry Blinds, Platinum Motors and Pearsons to name a few. We already knew how well equipped the park was so moving here was a no-brainer.”
