Stokesley Lawnmowers
Stokesley Lawnmowers sell and repair a large range of professional and domestic petrol and electric lawnmowers from their base on the Terry Dicken Business Park.
A tenant since inception of the park, we first met them back in 2019 when they were celebrating their 20th year in business. Let’s catch up with owner Karen for an update;
New blood
“We now have 5 staff members, having recently recruited an apprentice mechanic and we are currently looking for a business admin apprentice. We had a good year in 2019 but that seems a long time ago with having to adapt to trading through the pandemic!”
Downing tools
Like many businesses, Stokesley Lawnmowers had to close their doors during the first lockdown.
“During the first lockdown we completely closed. We diverted the phones to our mobiles and gave out lots of advice from home. We had just taken delivery of the new seasons stock when we had to close, which was very worrying, but fortunately we were able to deliver new machines that were ordered over the phone. Later on it was deemed that repair centres could be open so we brought back our staff, kept the doors closed and offered a collection and delivery service so people were able to stay at home. It worked really well as there was a definite need for our service during that time.”
Green shoots
“Luckily, we’ve been able to continue to offer the same services. We repair garden and commercial machinery and offer an extensive range of new machinery for sale. As specialists in sales of ride-on mowers and small tractors, we insist that an experienced member of staff is always on hand to give technical and practical advice and explain the benefits of individual machines. We’ve also seen an increase in quad bike repairs and our range of snow clearing equipment came in really handy when we had the increment weather a while back.”
Customer care
As a family business, excellent customer service is at the heart of what Stokesley Lawnmowers do.
“Every one of our customers is important to us and we like to look after them. We offer a personal service when selling new machines and we do ensure that each customer goes out with a machine that is most suitable to their requirements. Everything is put together, oiled, fuelled and ready to use.”
Great value
“We have lots of returning customers who come back to us year after year. They tell us that they are confident that we can repair their machinery at a fair price. If a machine can’t be repaired we do pride ourselves on giving the best advice on a new purchase.”
Ideal home
Having been on the Terry Dicken Business Park since they opened in 1999, Stokesley Lawnmowers are a valued tenant. I asked what they liked about being here.
“It’s an ideal place to run a business from. It is very central and well known.”
