Terry Dicken Business Park Feature Friday

Agriplus Ltd

Agriplus supply a wide range of new and used farm and plant hire machinery as well as servicing and repairing all makes of tractor and machinery.

We first introduced them back in April 2019 where we learnt all about their beginnings. So much has changed since then so we decided to catch up and find out what’s new.

In between customer visits and phone calls, I chatted with the very busy, but lovely Ruth…

Extensive range

“The last year has certainly thrown up some challenges but I’m pleased to say in terms of our products and services, we’re still offering the same wide range of new and used machinery including McCormick, Vicon, Weidemann, Teagle, Dieci Telehandlers, Strautmann Diet Feeders and Forage Wagons, Bomford Turner, Harry West Trailers and Maschio.”

Good, honest service

2020 saw the arrival of Kevin Hornsey to the business. Kevin joined during the first lockdown and brought with him a vast amount of experience having previously worked for agricultural companies including Wilfred Scruton’s and G M Stephenson’s. Kevin works alongside Rob in the busy servicing department.

Keeping calm and carrying on

Like many businesses on the Terry Dicken Business Park, Agriplus have continued trading throughout each of the National lockdowns even managing to continue their 24-7 call out service.

Ruth said “We service all types of tractors so that can take us all over. A lot of our business comes from word of mouth and our call out service is really busy. The restrictions currently in place mean that we have to work a bit differently to keep everything flowing safely from call to call. We ask all customers to please give Rob & Kev plenty of space when they’re on a call out. Allowing 2 metres as a minimum means we’re unable to talk customers through the work we’re carrying out but it ensures that we’re able to move safely between sites.”

Customer safety

When visiting the shop it’s best to call beforehand so items can be prepared to minimise contact time and it’s now a requirement for all visitors without a medical exemption to wear a mask. For customer safety, all payments are now taken via card or BACS.

Brexit disruption

The other noticeable test that Ruth has highlighted is the ability to get hold of certain parts.

“Since Brexit, we’ve had trouble getting hold of some items. We’ve had parts stuck in transit in Ireland and some held over in Europe so we’re working hard to source parts where we can. We’re asking customers to bare with us whilst we do our best to resolve this.”

Despite all of the disruption, the team at Agriplus are doing a sterling job keeping all of our local farmers equipment moving.

That reminds me, When is a tractor not a tractor?  When it turns into a barn.  Sorry, couldn’t resist ?

The ideal spot

To wrap things up, I asked Ruth if she’d recommend the Terry Dicken Business Park. She said:

“Absolutely, it’s so friendly here, Mark and Sue are great, really supportive. It’s so easy for us to get onto the A19 from here so it’s an ideal spot to our operate our 24-7 call out service from.”
