Dustin offer expert cleaning services for homes and a variety of commercial workspaces.
I had the pleasure of meeting the directors, Magdalena & Nicola at their sparklingly clean office on the Terry Dicken Business Park. You can tell these ladies are serious about their standards as I was welcomed in by smily faces, politely requesting me to follow the Covid guidelines on entry.
Once seated comfortably, I learnt all about Dustin and its origins.
Diamonds are a girls best friend
After trying to source a cleaner for her own home and just not being able to find one to meet her standards, Magdalena decided to open up her own cleaning business – Diamond Cleaning. Initially run out of her own home, then a room for storage was found at premises in Stokesley. With the need to store equipment and give her growing workforce access, Magdalena decided to rent a small unit on the Terry Dicken Business Park.
Soon Magdalena had a team of 19 and was working around the clock to manage the successful company.
“Diamond Cleaning grew very quickly and soon I was working all hours to keep up. 6 years later, lockdown happened. That gave me time to reflect. We’d grown so fast that I never had the time to effectively plan and I realised it was time for a change. I’d enjoyed spending time with my family and wanted to do more of it but the company was doing well and I didn’t want to give up on my clients”
Taking care of business
In steps Nicola. Nicola had been working in the office part time with Maggie for 2 years when she decided to become a partner.
“I loved working with Magdalena, we’ve known each other for years, first meeting as youngsters as our parents were neighbours. We’d re-connected years later when we were both pregnant and took the same journey into motherhood together as friends. I’d come back into the workforce part time but hated leaving Magdalena in the office when I could see how busy she was. When lockdown happened it gave us all time to reflect and I jumped at the chance to join her as a business partner.
Introducing Dustin
With the new partnership agreed it was decided a re-brand was needed and Dustin was born! A new image was created (courtesy of Nicola’s husband Jay at www.Heaviside.org) and the girls created their vision to be the cleaning company with the best reputation.
Now you may have thought that domestic cleaning is just about dusting, hoovering and polishing. Me too, well not here. Dustin offer one off or regular house cleans which can also include oven cleans, fridge cleans, laundry services, housekeeping and even de-cluttering.

Nicola explained;
“We don’t have a set range of services per-se, we literally do what the client needs, in the way that they prefer. So often our team will be doing things like sorting out the children’s clothing, ironing, or even feeding the pet pig! There’s nothing better after getting home on a cold evening after a long day at work to a sparklingly clean house with the log burner set to go. That’s just one little extra that we pride ourselves in offering. Being dementia friendly, we also assist our elderly clients with tasks that they can no longer do themselves.”
Domestic or Commercial – we’ve got you!
It’s not just the domestic cleans either. Dustin look after holiday parks, office blocks, restaurants, factories etc. Clients with commercial AirBnB properties have also seen real added value. By sharing their experience and tricks of the trade Dustin have helped owners to be more efficient.
Sisters doing it for themselves
To say these are powerhouse women with a passion for top-flight customer service is an understatement. Magdalena’s years of experience working for Barclays bank combined with Nicolas previous 20 years experience as an Onboard Manager for Virgin Atlantic Airlines mean they know how to delight customers and work under pressure. Nicola said;
“Once you have made good the facilities after a long haul flight on a busy aircraft you can face anything!”
Leading by example
I think what impressed me the most about these two ladies was their shared passion for the best possible service. They recognise and reward their team for receiving great feedback. They are not afraid to get their hands dirty either, often cleaning premises themselves. They are also customers of their own business and wouldn’t take on a team member that they wouldn’t be happy to have clean their own home.
With typical Dustin enthusiasm, when I asked what they liked about being on the Terry Dicken Business Park, the positives just kept coming!
Magdalena said;
“The commute is lovely. Clients like to know that we have an office so it’s great to be somewhere that’s easily recognisable and accessible with lots of parking. Mark and Sue are very accommodating and we have generated lots of business from the park”
Nicola thought;
“The park has a great reputation, the amenities are brilliant and it’s close for our clients and staff to pop in. The staff can access the building at unsociable hours and we have great neighbours. We also feel really safe here.”
