Terry Dicken Business Park Feature Friday

Stoney Creek Europe

Stoney Creek have been using cutting edge fabric technology and innovative designs to create the most robust technical wear for the rural and hunting communities for over 20 years.

Hunting, fishing and farming are all about community so it’s very apt that Tony Laughton chose the Terry Dicken Business Park as the home of the new European Headquarters of Stoney Creek. No stranger to these environments, Tony has been hunting and fishing since he was young, in fact he joined the army straight from school to create a career that fitted around his passion.

Years later, Tony was about to close the deal on the purchase of business premises in Osmotherley, for his then business Stag Country Sports, but at the eleventh hour the deal fell through. Cue Mark Dicken to save the day.

This was 6 years ago and Tony has been happily running that business alongside Fausti UK who retail outstanding Italian shotguns from the Terry Dicken Business Park. The fabulous range of Stoney Creek products have been a staple of Stag Country Sports for the last 2 and half years and this brings me neatly to the new opportunity that Tony has grasped with both hands.

Established, respected, affordable quality

Tony is a fan of the Stoney Creek products explaining “They’re a very well known and established brand in New Zealand. The gear is designed, tested, used and loved by the people that they are targeted at. The environments in New Zealand can be extremely challenging so I was impressed by not just the quality but also by the price point. They are extremely good value for money considering the high quality.”

Rural, Hunting and Workwear

“Our customers come from all parts of the rural and hunting communities. Game Keepers, Farmers, Land Workers, Beaters, Shooters, Forestry Workers all wear our brand and when the opportunity came up to take this on full time I jumped at it.”

Goodbye Stag Country Sports, Hello Stoney Creek Europe!

“Currently Stoney Creek have 10 hunting stores across the UK, and a rural store in Wales. My new role as Stoney Creek European Manager is to get the product out to more people by encouraging more retailers through the UK and Europe to stock our range. My experience of retailing the range myself for the last few years puts me in a great position to do that.”

Retailers Wanted

“We have adapted the space we already had on the business park to create our new European Headquarters. We now have a warehouse, office and showroom. I wanted an environment where I could welcome retailers in to see the products and talk about the benefits of retailing the brand.”

Next Best Thing to Owning Your Own Premises

“Mark and Sue are lovely folk and just make it really easy for their tenants. It’s a great area, the park is very secure and all the people here are very friendly and help each other out. It’s the next best thing to owning your own premises.”

What’s the best thing about the business park I asked, “TK’s Cafe” said Tony without hesitation!

I close out the interview with Tony explaining that the greatest thing about his new role is that he gets his hands on the Stoney Creek gear. He’s very much looking forward to getting out there and testing it out himself. I don’t think you can get a better advert than that.
