First Steps Day Care was opened on the 15th October 2015. Running for just under two years and is growing in numbers day by day. Emma Shaw from Stokesley and Rebecca Stephenson from Great Ayton are the company directors and between them have over 15 years’ experience.

First Steps Day Care pride themselves on being flexible and suiting individual needs. The nursery offers a wide variety of different sessions to suit parents working shift patterns and offer term time only places for no extra cost. The nursery has different rooms for different age groups. They have the Baby Bears room which is for children aged from 6 weeks – 1 years old. They have a Mini Monkey’s Room which is for children aged 1- 2 years along with a Roaring Lions Room which is for children aged 2-3 years. The Pre-school Room which has recently been refurbished and is for children aged 3-5 years. They now have two rooms, one of which is a large creativity room full of messy play, arts and crafts and creative activities. The nursery also has a large outdoor area which is used as much as possible and the children adore.

They also have some after school children from local schools which they provide a wraparound care service for and the girls arrange trips in the school holidays, such as Monk Park Farm and Butterfly World at Preston Park. The nursery also hold sessions every two weeks that teach the children Basic sign language through songs.
